If you’re looking for a home schooling information and you have no idea where to go, I hope my home schooling experience will help you. I was thankful how God opened the way and led me to Switched-on Schoolhouse Curriculum.
I had never thought of home schooling any of my kids because we had a church school in our church district. Our church school had a financial problem so it was closed in 2009. The closure was known to us just a few weeks before the school term 2009-2010 would start.
With a short-term notice I was never prepared for home schooling. I had no idea where and how to start, so I was definitely clueless about home schooling. I had never made a research about it. The school year was about to start but I was still unprepared to do home schooling with my youngest daughter. So I need to be home schooled too about home schooling since it’s an unknown world to me.
A week after the closure of our church school, we attended our church district meeting held at our church school gym. Our church school teacher brought and handed me a print out of Alpha Omega Switched-on Schoolhouse (SOS) Curriculum product information.
The church school teacher told me that the Switched-on-Schoolhouse curriculum is a popular non-denominational christian home school curriculum and it’s very easy to manage. Her daughter, who is also a teacher, is using Switched-on Schoolhouse curriculum at her church in another state.
I was reading the print out but not actually understanding and seeing a clear picture about the curriculum. From the print out, what I only understood that most of the Switched-on Schoolhouse stuff is done automatically.
When I got home I searched in the internet about Switched-on Schoolhouse and I found positive reviews. I still had no full understanding how the curriculum works and I had no idea what I was getting into even though I saw the demo video. But anyway, I just went ahead and ordered the Switched-on Schoolhouse software.
One of the parents at our church school was already in the process of getting his kids ready for home schooling. He stopped at our house because he wanted to do the home schooling together with me.
I had asked him if there’s something that I need to do that my home schooling will be a legal one and I will not run into trouble with the state. He said I need to sign a paper from the Wisconsin State. He was very helpful that he contacted the Madison office for me.
If you are going to home school your kid(s) stop at your local school district and ask information about what are the state’s requirements on home schooling. I never had any idea about this. This other parent who stopped at my house told me that he went to the local school district to find out about home schooling.
After a few days, I received the registration paper from the Madison Office. The paper said we need 875 hours for the school year and consisting 6 subjects namely: Reading, Math, Science, History, Language, and Health.
Even though I was totally clueless about home schooling and unprepared to home school my 6th-grade daughter but we’re able to make the school year with a great success with Switched-on Schoolhouse curriculum. How greatly thankful I am for God’s leading.
I’m very sure you’re still wondering what’s in Switched-on Schoolhouse curriculum and why I’m raving about this. Don’t worry I will let you see what’s in this curriculum. I will give you more information on home schooling using Switched-on Schoolhouse curriculum.
